VRLA

• VRLA (Valve Regulated Lead-Acid): lead-acid batteries with regulating valves, or Sealed Maintenance-Free Lead-Acid Batteries.
• The popularity of VRLA batteries is due to the safety and convenience of use compared to traditional ("wet") acid batteries.
• VRLA batteries are sealed and practically no gases are released from the battery. The gas generated during charging recombines and returns to circulation.
• Correctly operated batteries do not require maintenance activities related to replenishing the electrolyte or controlling its density.
• Due to the sealed construction of the housing, the electrolyte binding agent and pressure valves, VRLA batteries are protected against electrolyte leakage.
• The hermetic design allows the VRLA battery to be used in many different places, also in rooms where people are present.
• If the battery is overcharged, large amounts of an explosive mixture of oxygen and hydrogen are released, therefore the battery is explosion-proof. As the internal pressure rises, the regulating valves reduce the pressure by expelling a dangerous amount of gas outside the accumulator housing.
